This FREE resource is a gift for any teachers teaching the A-LEVEL EDUQAS MEDIA STUDIES SPEC. Some set texts may vary from those covered by your centre.
This double-triple (dependent upon how long you provide) is a resource based upon a quiz/gamership format and requires st to traverse the following dilemma and is a direct sequel to the 2023 Merry Quizmas resouce (see my store), should you have delivered that.
PLOT: Dear Year 13,
Once again, I cannot express my thanks to you all enough, for rescuing me- and Media studies- last Christmas, from the clutches of Rupert Murdoch. You will be pleased to hear that he is still under armed guard at the Krampus Maximum Security facility serving a lifetime sentence on the naughty list where all he has to keep him company each day in solitary confinement, is an issue of ‘The Guardian’.
Alas, I wish I were writing to you under better circumstances, but I am once again in need of your unique skillsets. I agreed to babysit Kate and Peter McCallister’s mischievous son this Christmas, Kevin. As well an employing him as my Security Consultant after last year’s security breach, I agreed to have him come along with me on my sleigh as an extra layer of protection but in my haste, left him HO-HO-Home Alone.
To make matters worse, I forgot to activate the security protocols before I left , leaving the North Pole defenceless! Whilst Kevin is a resourceful and capable young lad , to say I am worried is an understatement.
Please, can you locate Kevin and activate the security initiatives ASAP! I cannot turn back until I have finished my rounds but will endeavour to return to you after I have delivered my presents to the Pacific islands of Niue and American Samoa- the last stop every year on my route. Thank goodness Mrs. Claus is at her Mother’s this Christmas Eve or she’d have had my baubles for Christmas decorations! Best to keep my indiscretion between us… in the name of goodwill to all men… and unsupervised 10-year-olds. Moreover, if you are successful in your mission, I will put something extra under all of your trees this Christmas!
Good luck,
Santa Hall
P.S. I have once again encoded any passwords etc. that you will need to help keep them safe from those who would do the North Pole harm.
Students must scavenge parts for Kevin McAllister’s traps to protect the North Pole from a home invasion led by the Wet Bandits and other Christmas movie baddies. The student with the most scavenged items wins.
PLease consult the notes section of each power point slides for advise and the answers to the tasks/ puzzles. All work sheets and printable power point work sheets are attched or sectioned off in the power point. If you have any questions, please do let me know in the comments.
Happy Christmas to you and all your students and a very succesful and happy New Year to you.
Jake
