How did the arrival of new immigrants from Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, Asia, and Mexico in the 1880s influence American society and culture? This lesson and activity examines the background and impact of new immigrants in the late 1800s. Students will analyze documents and answer corresponding scaffolding questions. They will answer the final summary question to apply their knowledge.
