Using an extract from “Northanger Abbey” (from a 13+ paper) these lessons explore the conventions of the Gothic novel, as well as Austen’s use of satire. Also a slide which explores the origins of the term “Gothic” too, great it you’re teaching a unit on Gothic literature Links to embedded videos, as well as WordWall quizzes are included - along with an original set of multiple choice questions I wrote for weaker students to check understanding of the passage. Fantastic for longer analysis questions for 13+, GCSE Language (Paper 1 if AQA) and GCSE Literature, and completely **self contained. **
