The first lesson introduces students to facts around the apartheid and includes elements of group work and oracy.
The second lesson explores Afrika’s influences for writing the poem.
In the third lesson, students are introduced to the poem as dictogloss poetry in order to develop personal and creative responses to the poem.
In the fourth lesson, students analyse the effects of the language and structure in the poem.
In the fifth lesson, students plan for an extended response.
The sixth lesson is an assessment.
