Part part whole addition subtraction mats ks1

I created these mats to help children understand the relationship between addition and subtraction and help them to record a 'family of facts'. I laminated these - some onto A3 so that the children could work with them practically using cubes, counters - or any objects to split the whole into 2 parts. They then use whiteboard pens to write the addition and subtraction number sentences. There are a few variations - depending on what the focus is. I have used these with a Year 1 and Year 2 class but they could be helpful for looking at larger numbers with older children. I have included the files as word docs in case you want to change the font. It is in our school cursive script. I have also included the files as PDFs if you would like to use them as they are.
