Phonological Screening Test and Auditory Processing Checklist

This is intended to be used with learners who are at the early stages of literacy or are struggling with literacy. There are many full diagnostic tests for phonological awareness, but these are usually expensive and can be quite time-consuming for schools. They are also often restricted.
This resource is just intended to be a quick and easy screening test which will identify difficulties with some of the main aspects of phonological awareness which affect literacy.
There is a checklist included, which can be used to make a summary record for a particular student and to monitor progress.
We would recommend using a range of resources to address any difficulties which have been identified. Picture and game resources can be particularly effective - and enjoyable. The Syllables Set is one of these and we will be uploading more from our range, which we hope you’ll find useful.
