A lesson on growth. Starts with a definition on growth and moves to look at the fact that the plant must both photosynthesize and respire for growth to occur.

Main body of the lesson is a paired Kagan task. Pupils label themselves A and B (can be decided by dice roll or by who's the oldest etc). Using an iPad, computer, textbook, one person looks up photosynthesis, whilst the other partner looks up respiration. They must get a general overview of what each reaction is and learn the equation.
Pupils then take it in turns to team teach the partner and the partner adds to their notes.

This is followed by a progress check and then moves on to a comparison activity of these 2 reactions.
Enables pupils to see that growth is a 2 step process, photosynthesis provides the glucose energy for growth.
