This is a lesson that forms part of the PSHE sex and relationships unit. It focuses on different types of artificial contraception. It is a lesson that parents can withdraw their child from as it deals with sex education.
The lesson includes worksheets / fact sheets and activities as well as a slide on ground rules for discussion and where they can get further advice and support outside of school. There is a video link to how to put a condom on but this is likely to be blocked through your school safe use of the internet. You may need to discuss this your IT support for it to be used. The video is not essential though.
The learning students are expected to know by the end of the lesson are:
I know some examples of contraception and how they work
I know about choosing appropriate contraception and where to access it (including emergency contraception)
I understand why it is important to talk about contraception in a healthy relationship
I know how to use a condom effectively
