Reading activity Words in context/vocabulary treasure hunt Year 6

I was inspired by a maths treasure hunt I have seen on TES by Beckie- Stevie. This is a words in context/vocabulary treasure hunt. I printed these on paper (worked fine) and stuck them around the hall. Different colour on a different day. Children can either write down what the word means in context, or a suitable synonym. The children were very engaged, and I heard great conversations as a result. The lilac cards are very challenging on purpose, as there are children in our school, who need to be really challenged! I think the activity really forced children to read around the word, replace words etc. I asked the children to work independently, however this could be a paired activity as well. I have attached a basic answer sheet you could use. Partners can be split and then they can compare their answers at the end of the activity. The activity will easily last an hour (muddle the order you stick them up in). I used the google dictionary to go through answers. It was good because at a glance the children were able to see the definition, see the word used in a sentence and they were also able to see synonyms. Happy SATs revising to all us crazy Year 6 teachers!!
