This is a blocked cross curricular project based on robots and climate change. This project is planned to take around three days with each section either taking between 3/4 hour and 1 and 1/2 hours.

There is eleven lessons with eleven slide shows to accompany each lesson.

The slides are created using dual coding strategies to reduce the children’s cognitive overload and hopefully support children with SEN and EAL.

Each slide show has retrieval practice questions, vocabulary pages, teaching sections, activities as well as a review section including diagnostic questions for AFL.

Some of the prior attainment (retrieval) task at the start are based on previous topics including: The Stone Age, Rivers as well as Ancient Egypt. However, these can be changed to match your previous topics.
The project cross curricular includes: design and tech, history, writing (instructions and persuasive adverts), computing (animation and sound recording), Science (climate change).

The project culminates in the children using Lego to create their robots, which use movements including axles, cogs, hinges and wheels. these are all based on the children’s prior learning.

Finally, there is a topic booklet that accompanies the project. This includes tasks pages as well as review sections (linked to each lesson) to help support the children with their learning.
