This lesson activity on Romeo and Juliet encourages pupils to think about the treatment Juliet receives from those closest to her following her secret marriage to Romeo.

Pupils look at Act 3, scene 5 in which Juliet’s parents tell her that she must marry Paris. Using line references given, they look up each of ten quotations from the scene and fill the gaps. Then they draw an arrow to the picture of the character who says the lines.
