This is a 20 lesson scheme of work for the play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. A great scheme of work for teaching a Shakespeare text which is less popular in schools today.

The scheme begins with an exploration of Shakespeare’s life and Jacobean context. Before reading the text, we watch the film version over three lessons. We then move on to reading the text and analysing character and setting, with a focus on theme in the close analysis of extracts. The scheme includes an end of unit assessment. This scheme can be used on a range of abilities, with activities being adapted or ommited for different levels. An excellent way into the world of Shakespeare!
