In this lesson, students will learn that a mixture is a combination of two or more substances that aren’t chemically joined and can be separated back into their individual substances. They will learn that there are two types of mixtures: heterogeneous and homogeneous and will look at examples of each.
They will then look at how these mixtures can be separated before completing a quiz on what they have learnt. Following this, they will carry out 3 investigations of separating mixtures. They will follow the experiment proforma to help them organise, record and analyse their observations before discussing their experiments as a class.
