After losing their parents in an accidental house fire, Genevieve (a gentle girl of 11) and Adam (a playful boy of 7) are hiding in the remains of their once glorious Victorian mansion to avoid being taken off to the workhouses as orphans. It is the children’s first Christmas without their parents and so it is a solemn and cold occasion. Adam is hopeful and believes that he will be able to find Christmas, however Genevieve is far less optimistic.
At the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve, Genevieve is transported to a magical realm where her home stands again as it once did, proud and beautiful – it is as if the tragedy had never happened.
Curious creatures, vicious villains and hilarious H.E.L.P await the arrival of Genevieve in their magical land and guide her on a quest to happiness and hope, in time for her brother waking up on Christmas morning.
