Lesson: Alien Space Journey through Planets
Aims:
1. To learn the names of the planets of the Solar System.
2. To be able to recognize the planets of the Solar System on the picture.
Age group: Nursery and Reception
Time: approximately 60 minutes
Materials required:
1. Pictures for the “find a planet” game
2. Planet song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGgZalXIwqI
3. “Alien Space Journey” story
4. Craft materials: sellotape, A6 size paper (card will work best), lollipop sticks
Introduction:
In this lesson, children play a “find a planet” game, think about which planets in the game are real and learn what they are called, listen to a planet song, draw a picture of an alien, listen to a story about aliens travelling through the Solar System and act it out using their alien pictures, discuss what they’ve learned during the class.
