Spelling Fun and Alphabetical Ordering KS1

This unit of work is designed for Key Stage 1 and integrates literacy and phonics with maths concepts like sorting, pairing, and categorizing.
Each lesson encourages children to recognize, sound out, and spell simple words, with a specific focus, mostly, on CVC words and children’s names -making the learning experience fun and engaging.
Lessons include cutting and sorting colour character cards into alphabetical order by name; drawing, writing or pasting characters under their names; finding a name for each letter of the alphabet in the word search; sharing a short story and answering comprehension questions, as well as finding hidden names in lines of letters.
