The SEND Code of Practice 2015 came out at a time when schools were grappling with introducing a new National Curriculum. Therefore many school staff were not properly introduced to this statutory document and the implications for their classroom practice.
In 2022 the Government carried out a SEND review which further highlighted inconsistent practice and awareness around responsibilities for pupils with SEND.
