This Notebook presentation covers seven lessons;
1. Identify if a number is written in standard form
2. Writing large numbers in standard form
3. Writing small numbers in standard form
4. Converting from standard from to writing in full
5. Multiplying powers of ten
6. Multiplying two numbers written in standard form
7. Dividing two numbers written in standard form

Each concept is introduced through direct instruction, focused practice, a diagnostic question to assess understanding and then further practice.
Answers are included in the presentation.

The direct instruction slides follow my “Education Scotland friendly” adaptation of Craig Barton’s example problems pairs.
The questions are from Craig Barton’s excellent variation theory website.
I have also included my own diagnostic questions in the presentation.

If you want more questions of a similar style; Maths bot and Dynamic Maths are excellent websites where endless questions can be generated.
