Strawberry DNA Extraction Lab

Where would we be without our DNA? Yet, it’s nearly impossible to grasp its importance if we can’t see it. This lab comes to the rescue with a fun and interactive way of extracting DNA from the humble strawberry. Students will learn how to extract this macromolecule from the fruit and will get to see it first hand. This lesson can be completed with students of all ages and does not require complex equipment - so it can even be done at home! Beware - after doing this activity, you may have a potential scientist on your hands!
