Subtract by Counting Back Number Line Activity

Make subtraction a whole lot of fun for your class with this engaging maths activity! Subtract within 10 using the fold back tabs. Children can count the remaining images or count back using the number line. Perfect for your maths lessons!

You could:

• Laminate each sheet and snip along the dotted lines to make a hands on activity. Children work from right to left to fold back the correct number of images. They could either use a whiteboard pen or magnetic numbers to show their answers. For the mixed subtraction within 5 and within 10 sheets, children will need to begin by putting up the correct number of images and then work from right to left to solve the subtractions.
• Print out the sheets and use them as evidence of pupils’ learning. They (or you!) would just need to snip long the dotted lines before solving the subtractions.

• Subtraction from 2-10 hands-on sheets (in colour and b./w)
• Mixed subtraction within 5 sheet (in colour and b/w)
• Mixed subtraction within 10 sheet (in colour and b/w)
