To measure the current through and potential difference across a lamp as it is switched on.

This experiment uses dataloggers to record a transient (0.1s) event, the switching on of a lamp. Highly recommended as an activity with a lot of potential ( no pun intended! ) for stretching the very brightest in a Physics/Science class. It would also be interesting to compare the actual recorded data with graphs produced from theory via Excel ( maybe a KS5 extension ). A search of the internet will also produce some slow motion photography showing similar events which would add to the whole package.
