THE BUSH FIRES ON KANGAROO ISLAND - PART 2 -ORIGIN AND EXTENT

This is the second unit on Kangaroo Island. It shows the origin, expansion and extent of the bush fires. Use the maps to show the fire expansion and discover why these fires were difficult to contain and impossible to control from December 20th 2019 to mid-January 2020. With the background of Unit 1 your students will be able to understand which areas were impacted by the fire ground. Find out how the situation changed to designate the fires from “uncontrolled” to “contained” and finally to “extinguished”. The follow up unit 3 deals with the impact and recovery phase.
