The whipping of Henry II

Dear colleague,

This lesson is the third part of a 3 lessons set; it looks at the events after Beckett’s death. It aims to have students matching general knowledge and original sources while developing their writing ability. All lessons have a same-model structure to get the students taught in a coherent manner, and always understand where they are at in their learning:

To describe the key events in Henry II public display
To explain why Henry repented in public
To evaluate the outcome of Henry’s act of expiation

Homework, reading resources and task templates are included.
This work should be ideal for a year 7 or 8 class work at the start of the year, or inserted into medieval studies and is already set as slide show.
