Several activities to study the character of Boo Radley, based on Chapters 1-8 of To Kill a Mockingbird.
Pupils study the description of the Radley Place from Chapter 1 and draw the house. Then fill in gaps in quotations about the Radleys, decide if they are facts or rumours, and add some of the quotations to their drawings. A list of evidence of Boo’s behaviour towards the children is provided and pupils discuss what his actions show about him. After considering whether the children have misjudged Boo, pupils write a letter to the children.
The creative task makes this suitable for Year 9 and possibly Year 10.
