Teach your class to read words containing phase 3 vowel digraphs and trigraphs with this fun pack! Digraphs and trigraphs included are ai, ee, igh, oa, oo/oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, er.

Children should say the sounds as they drive their car past the birds and then blend them together to read the word.

Road mats with the following words are provided (one word per mat):

ai: rain, wait, sail, pain, tail

ee: seed, deep, feet, bee, see

igh: high, night, light, right, sigh

oa: boat, coat, road, toad, goat

oo: look, book, wood, foot, good

oo: too, zoo, moon, boot, food

ar: car, farm, hard, park, shark

or: for, born, sort, fork, torch

ur: burn, turn, fur, curl, hurt

ow: cow, now, down, owl, town

oi: coin, boil, soil, join, oil

ear: hear, gear, near, tear, dear

air: hair, fair, chair, pair, stair

er: fern, her, herb, term, herd

Each word is also written on a car flashcard (colour copy and B&W copy). These could be used for assessment purposes or children could match them to the correct road mats.
