The aim here was to encourage students to focus on “what can I work out?” rather than to focus on the final aim of the question. As such: the first two slides can be skipped so the students start by looking at the diagram and are invited to think about what is presented.

The diagram illustrating Pythagoras’ theorem is from a presentation I found on TES, sorry: I don’t remember which. The picture in slide 18 is from melloo.co.uk which allows for non-commercial use.

I removed a picture from the final slide, but have left a link in the slide comment – I use the picture in class, but it is probably not public domain.
