Suitable for year 9/10/11 (could be tweaked to be suitable for year 7 and 8)
The aim of this lesson is to come to a decision as to whether or not NASA should spend $3 billion investing in their hypothetical cooling method of Yellowstone volcano.
Before pupils answer this question, the lesson takes them on a journey to explore:
- what a super volcano is
- How likely a Yellowstone eruption is
- The potential (worst case scenario) impacts of an eruption
This is an exciting lesson with plenty of opportunity for discussion and evaluation. It will really challenge the thinking of pupils!
