A* Teach Peace Secondary* lesson from Greenham Women Everywhere.
'You can’t kill the spirit’ was sung by women from across Britain as they struggled against the placement of nuclear cruise missiles at Greenham Common. Discover what motivated the biggest female-led protest in Britain since the Suffragettes. Through contemporary news media and literature, discussion, drama and zine-making learners will explore tactics used by the protestors, the conditions they faced and consider their success.

A thought-provoking and engaging lesson that gives students the chance to explore more about the role of women in peacemaking. The lesson includes a good range of contemporary materials for students to analyse and uses a diverse range of activities to encourage young people to creatively explore and discuss the story of those at the camp. It allows students to critically examine the role of women and protest in making change both historically and today.

Such an important part of our social history and inspiring to see about. Great to be able to access the Greenham Women Everywhere archives to bring it to life. Raises really good ethical and critical thinking questions about social change
