Word Sort Hard C Soft C

"Hard C Soft C is often quite hard for students to learn. Making them work out for themselves what is happening and why as often a faster way to help them understand. Because many adults learnt by whole word methods these spelling rules are often new to them too. When c is followed by a, o or u it general has a hard c sound when followed by e i or y it takes the soft s sound. Word Sorts are an excellent way to encourage students to look ‘inside’ words and think ‘why’.
