A fully resourced Literacy Unit (6 lessons) with detailed plan, daily Promethean (ActivInspire) flip charts and resources. The unit uses the picture book ‘Journey’ as a stimulus to enable children to develop their prediction skills alongside planning and editing setting descriptions using figurative language, fronted adverbials and thesaurus skills. Children showcase there learning by creating a class travelogue (Lesson 6 - ALL DAY).
Lessons planned to meet the following Year 5 curriculum objectives:
ARE (Reading)
To predict what might happen from details stated and implied.
ARE (Writing)
To plan setting explanations through discussing and recording ideas.
To edit and improve a setting description using figurative language and a thesaurus
