LESSON 14-15= This Double lesson looks at the codes and conventions of Newspaper Double Page spread with a large focus on 'The Daily Mirror' and 'The Times' (Examiner samples and various others from the two publications) as well as other mainstream British newspapers. The lesson also focuses heavily on how meaning is constructed by newspapers through Media Language techniques. The Double contains:

- A Media teaser that assesses knowledge learnt in the SEC B, Industry side of the topic (See my Section B lessons) by looking at Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox and FOX and what this could mean for Rupert Murdoch (who owns 'The Times').

-An in-depth Starter and resource sheet based upon the ideologies and allegiances of mainstream British newspapers and how they engage audiences to share in their opinions via Media Lang.

-An assessment of retained knowledge as of the start of Sept to both assess content learnt in the newspapers unit as well as in the 'Tide', 'KOTV' and 'Wateraid' unit (Following EDUQAS MODEL 1).

-Resource sheets based on codes of newspapers for teachers to assess students with. One of these is a reversible, differentiated worksheet on Double Page Spreads where I have deconstructed an example from 'The Daily Mirror' and the students need to replicate in their own analysis of the Trump 'Daily Mirror' Double Page Spread.

-A* PEE structured analysis of a Newspaper cover as written by me for students to model their own response under.

THIS LESSON ALSO INCLUDES A HOMEWORK WORKSHEET BASED ON 'THE DAILY MIRROR' DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD AS WELL AS 3 RESOURCE SHEETS (2 ATTACHED, ONE ONLINE WITH LINK PROVIDED).

This will be uploaded as a series of lessons on Component 1, Section A and will be part of a group of resources with different theories/terms as headings under each Exam Component.

This lesson is therefore Ideal for those wanting to Team Teach or teach Component 1, Sections A and B at differing times.

NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW and my school is only providing Media Studies at A-Level, as a Two- Year Course. Moreover, each lesson has a task whereby students RAG (Red, Amber, Green) what they have learnt in the lesson against an Examiner checklist (Differentiation, peer assessment).

If you liked this resource and found it useful, it would be greatly appreciated if you could feedback or rate my resource as I am constantly trying to adapt and refine my resources to improve the learning of my students. Many thanks.
