Year 3 VIPERS reading assessment

One sheet with National Curriculum Reading objectives cross referenced with VIPER reading skills. This sheet is to be used as a best fit traffic light system. The cover sheet has the NC objectives, VIPERS skills and suggested questions that could be used to aid assessment.
The second sheet can be used when assessing the children reading skills. It breaks up all of the NC objectives and has ‘I can…’ statements to refer to. The sheets can be used over several weeks and when evidence has been gathered you use the traffic light columns to add the initials of your pupils. This will build a reading profile for all of your pupils and the evidence gathered can be dated and cross referenced to support reading moderation.
One sheet can be used for the whole class or smaller reading groups.
The final sheet can be used to write notes during guided reading sessions and can be used for AFL.
