Year 5 Science Space: Historical scientist

This biography text for year 5, linking to the topic Earth and Space, explains how Nicolas Copernicus discovered that it was the Earth moving around the Sun. Although Copernicus didn’t get everything right – the Sun is NOT at the centre of the whole universe – his ideas changed the way that astronomers studied the skies. Over the next 100 years, astronomers began to challenge the old ideas and to look closely at what was really happening.
