Based on Literacy Shed’s ‘Alma’, this Greater Depth suspense narrative WAGOLL is aimed at supporting Year 6 children in reaching the Higher Standard. It is pitched at a GD level, allowing for exposure to varied sentence structures and writing techniques to push their writing on.

The narrative is written in the first person, as ‘the boy on the bike’, describing the events leading up to - and including - Alma entering the toy shop and letting the door close, without allowing the boy to escape.

The WAGOLL focuses on

  • writing from a different perspective
  • detailed description of the atmosphere/character movements
  • short, impact sentences
  • Year 6 sentence structures ( : and ; to join clauses, multi-clause, dashes, etc)
