Year 6 Inference and Impressions Comprehensions

This year 6 reading SATs revision resource is designed to help pupils develop their inference skills. To prepare pupils for reading a challenging narrative text similar in style to the texts which are often found in the third section of the KS2 reading test paper, this resource contains three high-interest extracts from the following classic stories:

• Aladdin
• The Secret Garden
• The Wizard of Oz

Each extract has an accompanying short comprehension focused solely on inference and impressions. These comprehensions include complex questions which require evidence similar to the 2-3 mark questions commonly found on the reading SATs . Answer sheets are also provided. This resource is suitable for three reading revision sessions. Including discussion and analysis of suitable answers these sessions are likely to take around 30 minutes each.
