Year 5/6 Reading and Writing Unit- (could last around 2 weeks?). Using an anthology of Oscar Wilde stories (I only looked at 'The Happy Prince' and 'The Nightingale and the Rose'- but others can be incorporated and shared). Includes two Smart notebooks: one for reading tasks and one for the writing task. Includes a range of help sheets, photos of flip charts used with children, writing model shared with children, persuasive devices plan template (can be used with any persuasive unit), persuasive devices examples sheet with 'Happy Prince' examples and the purpose/function on the reader as well as a range of reading activities (in-line with the new NC) to use with the text.
