Yves Klein in quotes - the artist on his painting art, his favorite colors ‘Blue’ and ‘Gold’, and his life inFrance, in the Paris’ art-scene - free resource for students, pupils, art-lovers and teachers in French art history

.
Yves Klein was a artist, mainly creating his art in France of the 1950’s. He died young in 1962, but had a lot of impact on later ‘Zero’ artists in West-Europe. Klein as a painter created a lot of monochrome paintings, most of them in the colors ‘Blue’ and ‘Gold’ color. Klein’s quotes describe a.o. his use of flames as material to create a ‘moving sculpture’. Moreover he was pioneer in performance art: painting in blue color on the walls, with woman bodies as brush.

Klein was eagerly searching for all kind of ways to ‘dematerialize’ his art (bring it to the the ‘Void’, as he said himself). At the end of his short life in France Klein started to use fire as his medium, to paint with the flames in the air. He created a kind of fire-fountain, spraying his flames into the air.
