This is a one page alphabet quiz game for John Boyne's 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas'. I have used it as an in-class activity with pairs or groups competing against each other and/or the clock. It would also be ideal as a homework activity or a stand-alone assignment for a cover class.

This resource consists of two A4 sheets, one focusing on verbs and the other on nouns. I have used an extract from Chapter One of 'Of Mice and Men' as the basis for two cloze exercises. This has worked very well in class for pair work and has helped to reinforce basic grammatical structures for weaker students.

This is an excellent resource that I have used many times to facilitate a really close re-reading of Chapter One of Of Mice and Men. It includes two worksheets, examining the ways in which George behaves like a parent and Lennie behaves like a child. Students must use their copy of the novel to find appropriate quotations for each aspect of behaviour. It also includes an answer page with over 30 relevant quotations from Chapter One. I've used this as a revision exercise with students working alone and also as a group or paired activity.
