The complete plan for delivery of the AQA DT 9-1 GCSE. Contains intent statements, marking policy and overviews, as well as structured breakdown of the course into Y10 training projects and associated theory topics and Y11 NEA. This document supports the other resources I have uploaded here. Please see my shop for all related projects and theory lessons.
Step by step guide to manufacture a Sweet Dispenser, presentation includes starters and plenaries. Usually delivered as an independent project for Sixth Form students, but could also be delivered with main school pupils with a little more support.
Complete 10 lesson project that guide students step by step to create an adjustable hard wood desk lamp. Delivers a range of manufacturing skills across a range of materials to build skills and exposure. We deliver this as a training project to our Y12 DT students but could easily be delivered lower down the school with support. Materials include aluminium, hardwood, polystyrene. Main Manufacturing techniques include marking out, mortise cutting, metal lathe turning, vacuum forming.
A set of front covers for the theory lessons that I have generated to deliver the content of the AQA DT 9-1 GCSE. There are 4 in total and they are to be used in conjunction with the theory lessons I have uploaded here.
They include space for students to record their performance and log any DIRT work that has been carried out.
I have developed a 6 week project that takes students from research through simple idea generation to orthographic projection. Then finally to manufacture. All activities are fully supported with .gifs that animate and clearly show the activities/skills required to complete the project successfully. The resource comes with a fully supported workbook for students to use during the project.
I am developing a full range of theory lessons to support the new AQA design technology GCSE 9-1. There are 30 lessons that are taught one a week throughout Y10.
Each lesson has learning objectives, starter/bell task, content (GIF’s used to support learning), plenary and summary slides in PowerPoint. I have also included a fully supported student handout which includes homework questions and summative assessment section.
To support the theory lessons I have uploaded, please download my pupil tracker sheet.
As well as theory lessons I have uploaded project/skills learning journeys that can be easily customised to the projects you are delivering.
All content is fully branded and is graphically consistent.
Please check out my other resources and give feedback if you find my resources helpful.

I have created a spreadsheet that can be used to track pupils progress through the AQA NEA project. All you need to do it is insert students names and target grades. Once a score for each section is added it will automatically calculate a score then (using the look up sheet) insert an equivalent level and RAG rate appropriately. Please note that the grade boundaries can be easily changed on the look up sheet. I also predict scores for each section based on prior performance e.g. if they achieve 8/10 for section 1 I will assume they will perform similarly on subsequent sections so i will give them 8/10 for section 2 and 16/20 for section 3 and so on. , this makes it quick and easy to see expected outcomes. I find this very helpful to motivate students.
I have produced a lesson aimed at improving pupils performance during the new 9-1 AQA DT exam. It is hoped that it will help build confidence prior to the summer exam. Pupils will need answer questions from the SAM 2 paper then analyse other pupils responces. It is designed to not only test theory knowledge but dig down to help develop pupils understanding of what to wrote to get marks in an exam. Please also see my Exam Techniques resources that are specifically based around the AQA DT specification.
I bulk print these at the start of the year, every time a pupil is absent one is stuck on the work they have missed. it is then very clear to see what has been missed and what work needs to be completed.
