U.S. History informational texts with comprehension and grammar questions for Year 3 and Year 4. This book is designed to help students develop their knowledge of key areas of the history of the United States, whilst working on their comprehension skills independently, and adding to their grammar knowledge and creative writing.
Each activity requires NO PREP and has a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers.

The unit is perfect for students in Year 3 or Year 4 for U.S. History or Presidents Day. It has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

The first play script is a funny play based on the Will Ferrell movie - Elf. The script follows the story line of the movie with Buddy the Elf being a human who is raised as an elf in the North Pole. Buddy finds out the truth and goes looking for his family who are not too receptive about his appearance or general behavior! But Buddy turns them all around before finally saving Christmas with his festive cheer! There are song recommendations throughout the script, with a mixture of traditional Christmas songs and modern songs. There are 20-22 speaking parts, with additional non-speaking roles too. The play is around 40-50 minutes long.

However, a mysterious outcast lives to the North of the town; this outcast hates Christmas and anything to do with the festive time of year. The Grinch has a plan to ruin Christmas for the town, and steals all the presents on Christmas eve. He has a change of heart however when he hears the town enjoying Christmas even though he had stolen all of the presents. His heart grows and he quickly returns the gifts and takes part in all the festivities. There are song recommendations throughout the script, with a mixture of traditional Christmas songs and modern songs. There are 28 speaking parts, with additional non-speaking roles too for up to 30 students. The play is around 40-50 minutes long.

This is a discussion based writing unit about who has been the most influential U.S. president of all time. Perfect for Presidents Day! The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. Perfect for students in Year 3 or Year 4.
The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt, and writing these onto the included fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual presidents. A great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to the key events of World War 2. There are 42 posters or cards that include many of the key events from the Second World War.
