Ideal for Year 5 or Year 6, the activity is perfect for group work, starting a new art topic, team-building activities or for a fun, engaging and interactive lesson. In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards that cover key events of the 1400s before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word. In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. A great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events of the Civil Rights Movement. There are 38 posters or task cards that include many of the key events from the beginning emancipation proclamation and speeches by Frederick Douglass, to the heroic actions of Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, to the more recent Black Lives Matter movement and George Floyd protests. A great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events and figures from African American sport. There are 27 posters or task cards that include many key events such as Jack Johnson winning the heavyweight boxing championship, Jackie Robinson breaking the racial barrier in Major League Baseball, Wilma Rudolph’s Olympic feats, to more modern victories like LeBron James becoming the all-time highest points scorer in the NBA. The posters look great as a display in the classroom and the cards are brilliant for Black History Month or for looking at some of the inspirational figures in more detail. The displays and cards come both with dates and without dates, so the students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline. The cards look even better when laminated. The activity has been split into four different tasks; your students will need to complete each of the tasks to reveal a word. Together the four words make a phrase for them to escape the room. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word. In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word. In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards about important events or figures from African American athletes in the history of sport before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word. In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. This is an informational text writing unit about Ancient Rome. The unit focuses on key facts about the history of the ancient civilization that dated from the founding of the city of Rome in the 8th Century BC, until its downfall in the 5th Century AD. The unit has been split into three separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The first lesson is interactive and involves them cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work into a neat copy on the template provided. NO PREP is needed!
