This lesson has been designed for learners who are studying paper one English Language. This is a thirteen paged, fully differentiated booklet going over some of the key questions of the paper 1 exam. The booklet has been put together to help students gain an in-depth understanding of both language and structure and how to approach each exam question. All of my booklets have been tried and tested and work well with whole classes and on a one-to-one basis.

The lesson begins with a fact-finding task, then progress to looking at the text and the Gothic conventions that are presented. There are tasks for the class to identify quotations linked to key images. The class will then move on to attempt an exam-style question, there is also a written example to help them to construct a well-written response.

The lesson goes over the language techniques that are needed to write a good piece of travel writing. The lesson then moves on to help students to construct their own piece of travel writing based upon their perfect location.

This is a fully differentiated lesson created for the new specification for functional skills level one and two. The lesson helps students to broaden their vocabulary and understand the importance of synonyms.

This is a fully differentiated lesson that helps stretch and challenge students in an engaging way. The lesson focuses on understanding the importance of understanding the importance of language in poetry. Additionally it has been used with many of my groups and has helped my students feel confident when faced with a poetry question.

This is a fully differentiated lesson designed to improve students understanding of language and structure and how to develop a good piece of creative writing.

This is a fully differentiated lesson looking at a key scene on Macbeth. The lesson covers many aspects of context that will affect the interpretation of Lady Macbeth’s soliloquy. The lesson goes on to help students annotate and understand the scene as well as opportunities for AFL and an exam-style question.

This is a fully differentiated 22-slide lesson looking at the poem Poppies from the AQA Power and Conflict anthology. The lesson looks at drawing together an understanding of how conflict is presented in the cluster as a whole. In addition, it helps students to gain a good understanding of Poppies and starts to get them to compare this to another poem and producing an exam-style response. This PowerPoint includes a range of fun and engaging icebreakers to help learners get to know each other and break through the tension of coming back to school. This recourse has opportunities for both individual and team games and also helps to develop key English skills such as making inferences and speaking and listening. All of my resources have been tried and tested and I have found these activities to be a great way to help challenge learners and to facilitate discussion and a sense of unity.
