Christmas Tree Subitising 1 to 5 is a fun interactive number game to develop early mathematical skills.
Each slide presents a different number of red and blue Christmas tree baubles. Children subitise the baubles and click on the matching number digit shown from 1 to 5. Varying arrangements of red and blue baubles are shown within five.
The Christmas Tree subitising game is designed in PowerPoint, fully interactive and 35 slides in length. The slides are fully editable. This resource also contains x18 Christmas tree subitising cards set that can be printed off and used during continous provision to develop children’s subitising skills.

A simple interactive whiteboard maths game to support early counting, addition and subitising skills. Children are presented with varying arrangements of buttons within five on the gingerbread man/woman. Children click on the number card showing the matching amount of buttons. This game can be played in various different ways depending on the needs of your children and is easily editable (21 slides in length). For example, higher achievers might like to write the corresponding calculation on small whiteboards, whilst other children may prefer to show the answer with their fingers or with number fans. This game fits well with WhiteRose Maths planning Alive in Five and builds on developing number knowledge within five by practising subitising and introducing the concept of adding one more.

A simple interactive counting game, designed in Powepoint to support the development of children’s early number knowledge from 1 to 5. Children are presented with different amounts of poppies in the ten-frame. Children need to count the poppies in the ten-frame and identify and click the matching number digit card. Different ways of showing 2, 3, 4 and 5 are explored using the ten-frame. A great starter activity for use on the interactive whiteboard as part of whole class teaching and learning, exploring amounts from 1 to 5. This is a simple IWB number comparison game designed in Powerpoint. Children are presented with two 5-frames with varying amounts of counters on each slide. Children need to click on the 5-frame showing the most or fewest counters. The game is 20 slides in length.
This game links well with Whiterose Maths planning activities for Autumn term for EYFS. It provides is a good introduction for children to begin to develop their subitising, composition and number comparison skills using a 5-frame.
An added challenge is to explore how many more counters would be needed to be added or taken away to make the amounts shown in the 5-frames the same. For example, “the amounts would be the same if we added (or subtracted) “X” amount of counters”.

How many spots? is a simple FREE interactive whiteboard Maths game to support the development of children’s early conceptual subitising skills (being able to see a number without counting). Children are presented with dominoes showing different arrangements of six, seven and eight spots. Children are invited to see how many spots are presented by applying their conceptual subitising skills. Children show the answer with their fingers, write the matching calculation on small individual whiteboards and/or click on the matching symbolic number card. This game fits well with WhiteRose Maths Spring Term Unit Growing 6, 7, 8 and is easy editable (32 slides in length). This game provides a good mental Maths starter and explores different arrangements of making six, seven and eight. This game can lead well into an independent investigation, exploring different ways of showing six, seven and eight spots using Spot on Number resources or making, sorting and matching dominoes into sets with 6, 7 and 8.
