A lesson for KS3 students but could also be used at KS4. It looks at the effects of WWI, the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, the big 3 and how this led to WWII. Clear differentiated learning outcomes that link well to tasks. Challenge and super challenges included to stretch and challenge. The powerpoint is differentiated - there are 2 different starter options, one for higher ability and one for lower ability. A nice/engaging introduction lesson OR revision lesson for students studying Edexcel Paper 2 Henry VIII & his ministers. Students are given a character card (key individual from the course) they then use their worksheet which includes facts about all of the key people to identify which fact relates to their character after reading the character card. They then use the card to add an extra fact about the character, then move around the classroom to get a completed sheet. They should then be able to write the story of the course, showing how the individuals link together. Also includes link to a KAHOOT or similar multiple choice powerpoint quiz without technology. Writing frame/sentence starters provided for differentiation. Outcomes are: Identify individuals from the course Give facts/details about individuals from the course Make and explain links between individuals from the course Evaluate the importance of individuals from the course

Introduction lesson for students studying Edexcel (could be tweaked for other exam boards) medicine in Britain. Engaging starter activity with higher level challenge questions. Focus on chronology and key concepts crucial to this course - chronology differences between ideas about the cause of disease/prevention/treatment, continuity & change and factors affecting change. Overview of medicine from the Medieval-Modern period. Students create a timeline and use a card sort to get an overview of key medical developments in each period. They then sort the information to show whether the development is linked to ‘ideas’ ‘preventions’ or ‘treatments’. The work sheet called ‘continuity and change sheet’ allows students to track continuity/change in medicine and introduces them to the idea of factors affecting change. They use the information from the card sort to complete this independently. Progress check questions included in the powerpoint presentation. 2 different options for plenary.
