Example newspaper report based on the children’s novel Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White.
This exemplar newspaper article is perfect to use as a WAGOLL when studying Charlotte’s Web. The example text reports on the events up to the end of Chapter 11 of the book when Charlotte’s first web is discovered.

An example non-chronological report text about brownies, a type of faerie or hobgoblin, plus two activities with answers, and planning and writing templates.

Pupils read the model non-chronological report about brownies, and then examine its features; label the layout features of a non-chronological report on the sheet provided; and plan and write their own non-chronological report using the templates provided. Pupils can research and create the information text about a brownie or a different mythical creature such as a goblin, boggart, dwarf, griffin, kelpie, unicorn or troll. These activities can be carried out over several lessons.

• Did you know? section with bullet points
