Covering the key points for the Common entrance, KS 3 and middle school circuits work with circuit symbols, truth tables current in series and parallel circuits, line graphing and various components there is something here to stretch everyone while making sure the basics are in place as well. There is a graduated differentiation task as the last question to allow pupils to choose their level of challenge. Will last around 30 minutes.
15 Density and pressure multiple choice questions

15 Density and pressure multiple choice questions

(1)
covering use of the density and pressure formulae, one or two tricks like the man at a party when you are given the area of one of his feet and the calculation of an area and a volume. A nice quick start to a lesson, easy to peer mark or do from the board.
Circuit design problems test
HoppersphysicsHoppersphysics

Circuit design problems test

(0)
Having tested the pupils knowledge of the different components symbols this test then gets them to use the components to solve various problems such as how to make a light switch on in a dark room as dawn comes up outside. (LDR). This is suitable for Common Entrance and KS3.
Basic circuits multiple choice test
HoppersphysicsHoppersphysics

Basic circuits multiple choice test

(0)
This is a set of 20 multiple choice questions covering electricity, circuit symbols, series and parallel circuits, basic reading of an ammeter and prediction of the brightness of bulb in different circuits and 3 truth tables to fill out. It is easy to peer asses and suits the requirements for KS3 and Common entrance as well as a basic start for GCSE. Also suitable for middle school
Density Mandala
HoppersphysicsHoppersphysics

Density Mandala

(0)
A prearranged density mandala to help pupils summarize the key density experimental methods as well as the rule of floating and the uses of density. Suitable for common entrance.
Energy types and transfers test
HoppersphysicsHoppersphysics

Energy types and transfers test

(0)
15 questions on energy transfers involving a wide variety of different situations. Suitable for KS3, Common entrance and middle school energy topics. Pupils are required to give one word answers and draw the answers for some questions.
Energy transfer test 1
HoppersphysicsHoppersphysics

Energy transfer test 1

(1)
A sequence of little experiments (although this does not have to be an experimental activity) you can use to asses the pupils ability to spot the different energies involved in some unusual transfers. Suitable for KS3, ISEB common entrance and middle school. Find more energy transfer work at https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/Hoppersphysics
voltage, resistance and current investigation
HoppersphysicsHoppersphysics

voltage, resistance and current investigation

(0)
An introduction into current in a circuit and the way changing the resistance and voltage in a circuit changes the current. There is space to define voltage and resistance, an investigation using resistance wire, space to draw a graph and then an investigation into current around a series circuit. This is all in one 4 page handout. The fifth page has graduated differentiation questions to use with the graph from the resistance wire experiment with walk, jog and run questions to get every pupil stretched to their current level of ability. Suitable for KS3 and ISEB common entrance.
And and OR circuit truth table worksheet
HoppersphysicsHoppersphysics

And and OR circuit truth table worksheet

(0)
A introduction to AND and OR circuits suitable for KS3 and ISEB common entrance with the truth tables leading the pupils to understand the names of the two types of circuit. There is then a graduated differentiation task which is given on the third page of the file with walk, jog and run task based on truth tables. You can do this as an experimental activity or a thinking one!
Basic circuits and series and parallel introduction

Basic circuits and series and parallel introduction

(0)
This is for pupils looking at circuits around year 7. It is suitable for KS3 and ISEB common entrance. It reviews/introduces basic circuit symbols and then has different circuits to make to compare the brightness of bulbs. A great way to get the pupils making their circuits accurately. They are then asked to find out about series and parallel circuits and classify the circuits in the experiment into these two groups. After that there are a couple of questions about the advantages of parallel circuits over series circuits.
