Triangle Construction Jigsaw

Triangle Construction Jigsaw

(1)
This resource can be used with KS3/KS4 and all abilities that are able to construct triangles. I thought the idea of a jigsaw would add something different to this topic. This idea means they have to be very accurate if they want their jigsaw to work. Problem solving is also needed to match the triangles.

This is aimed at higher KS3/KS4 (I have used it with Y7 as well but it is about knowing your group) Includes all elements of numeracy and problem solving.

Fractions: All operations. Disney and Marvel

I have found that the topic of fractions is always something the students do not really like from the moment you say the word so I wanted to come up with a way to teach fractions to all ages and abilities in a way they would enjoy. In this resource is a pack of 32 fractions each with a popular character. Personally I have them laminated and cut out into little cards. There are worksheets which cover: 1. Equivalent Fractions - Addition - Subtraction (ANSWERS) 2. Multiplying and Dividing (inc cross canceling) There is also a notebook file to use in the teaching and questioning part at the beginning/end.

F1 Race Algebra

(0)
This is an investigation into the race position of formula 1 drivers. I have used this on interview lessons with great success. The lesson revolves around substitution into a set of instructions. Then investigating why it doesn't matter where you start from you always get the same finishing line up. Ultimately the top end students will be able to show algebraic proofs to prove it all works, while the lower students will get practice with substitution. This pack includes: Full powerpoint with starter-questioning-examples of the worksheet-plenary and ANSWERS. A good plenary I use is to get a student to show their proof while the others make sure no mistakes are being made.

This is three memory tasks on: Index Laws Pythagoras Squares and Cubes I print them on A3 and then they work in groups of 3/4 getting to take it in turns to reproduce the poster from memory. I normally have 30 seconds look and 1 minute draw per person. Can take between 20-40 minutes depending on the group. I always award prizes for the most accurate. I have used this with both KS3 and KS4 top/bottom sets and mixed ability it really works and the students love them.
