KS3 Religious Studies - Lesson 2 of the Islam scheme of work This lesson looks at an ‘What are the key features of a Mosque?’. This lesson looks at the key features of mosques - students will complete a worksheet investigating each part of a mosque using information provided on the PowerPoint, complete with a variety of photographs and videos. At the start of the lesson, I encourage students to take off their shoes, wash and cover their heads so they get a full feel for what it is like to enter a mosque. It asks students to understand why there are different interpretations, by considering the viewpoints of historians and writers from medieval to modern day. Suitable for teaching 11-14s WW1 - Why did the Schlieffen Plan fail? Whole lesson plus all worksheets, this lesson looks at why the Schlieffen Plan failed. It encourages students to come up with their own plan in how to beat France and Russia, and then looks at the source ‘Bravo, Belgium’ for an explanation as to why it failed. An interactive lesson for teaching 11-14s on the weapons of WW1. Students make their own Top Trump cards about 7 weapons (ranging from tanks, rifles and zeppelins), using the differentiated information sheets! All worksheets are provided - including the information sheets and the template for the Top Trumps. I printed the Top Trump templates onto cards and students were then able to play them in lesson, and take them home to share with family! For teaching 11-14s Holocaust This lesson looks at 'What was the Final Solution?' Students will start by looking at the Wannsee Conference and the concentrations camps. Students will look in depth at Auschwitz and Dachau using a variety of tasks (videos and sources). Students will aim to answer the following question: Explain in what ways the ‘final solution’ was different from the way the Nazi’s treated the Jews between 1933-1941.
