Mots Cachés are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 25 French Christmas words, which will also help to develop students’ awareness of some***Francophone Christmas traditions and figures***, such as Saint Nicholas and Père Fouettard, which is translated as Father Fouettard rather than Whipping Father. The vocabulary is really useful for stimulating discussion about***French Christmas practices and customs***. Students also enjoy talking about other Christmas traditions they know or follow. The vocabulary list features the definite article, though some grids also have the indefinite article for additional challenge. There are 5 French to French grids, where students are prompted with the French words, and look for them in French in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list to complete. There are also 5 English to French grids, where the prompts are given in English. Students look for the French translation in the grid. They also write the French translation of the English word. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that students can check their answers, or use for a little extra help if they need it. The answer keys help them develop independence in their learning, and also provide them with an additional opportunity to engage with the French vocabulary. The word searches and answer keys are in landscape format, with arrows indicating in which direction the individual words are located. There is an alphabetical French-English Christmas vocabulary list which students find really helpful. The word searches are useful in a range of learning contexts - as starters, refreshers, finishers, fun-time fillers and for sub / cover lessons at any time during the Christmas / Holiday season. SPANISH MONTHS & SEASONS WORD SEARCHES

PRIMARY SPANISH YEAR 7 SPANISH KS3 SPANISH MONTHS AND SEASONS OF THE YEAR WORD SEARCHES ten differentiated word searches focusing on the months and seasons of the year in Spanish. Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. My students really enjoy practicing their vocabulary with word searches. They like to work independently, either alone, in pairs or in small groups, challenging themselves and each other to progress through the challenges. In general, sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. Word searches are easily differentiated too. In this set, there are five Spanish to Spanish grids, with the Spanish words as prompts. Students then find them in Spanish in the grid. A great way of really consolidating vocabulary is to get students to complete the word list on the grid sheet too. There are also five English to Spanish grids. With these, the prompt words are in English, so students have to know the correct Spanish word in order to find it in the grid. There's a word list to complete on these too. As the challenge increases, the words appear in an increasing number of different directions, and students can identify which directions they're looking for by referring to the arrow key on each grid. The word searches are in landscape format, and each grid has a corresponding answer key, which provide students with an additional opportunity to engage with language, helping them develop more independence in their learning. This kind of activity is useful in a variety of learning contexts: for cover lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year. FRENCH ER VERBS CONDITIONAL TENSE

GCSE FRENCH ER VERBS CONDITIONAL TENSE FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH -ER VERBS This kind of grammar activity is really popular with my students - they like to work independently, practising and revising how to conjugate French verbs, and it’s a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are***150 conjugation questions across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges***, with an answer key booklet. I always give my students an answer key with this kind of workbook, as it facilitates independent learning, and they genuinely enjoy self and peer-assessment. Having an answer key also gives them an additional opportunity to engage with language and grammar. The format is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of French conjugation works, reflect on what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. They also use this page to note any new verbs they learn, which helps them build up a comprehensive verb vocabulary. It’s also a useful tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular activity with my students. *6-page answer key booklet * Try this free conjugation workbook sampler to see if it’s the kind of learning activity that will work well for your students: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-verbs-conjugation-practice-sampler-12307809 Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, with a wide range of French language teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! FRENCH ER VERBS IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE FOCUSING ON 25 FRENCH -ER VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I've found it's really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with a full answer key. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they're really versatile, and ideal for advanced beginner to intermediate French students who want to practice and refresh their conjugation skills in French, and work on the imperfect tense a little more. The workbooks focus on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I've found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well. The resource is structured as follows: * Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. * Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Perfect for developing Spanish language skills in general, as well as for practising and revising Spanish numbers There are 48 differentiated questions, full answer key and a recording sheet. The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. There’s also a question card template for students to apply language skills creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. My students also genuinely enjoy putting new questions together for each other. Challenge cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocab, but throughout the year as starters and refreshers. The goal is not simply to learn and practice how to count in Spanish, but also to enjoy working with language, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions***range in complexity and challenge***, and are all in Spanish, with a significant amount of Spanish maths language. The maths symbols graphics enable students to use visual clues and prompts to foster understanding. A lively whole-group multi-skill language learning game, ideal for Primary French / KS2 French and KS3 French / KS4 French students. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the clock faces, makes it perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to tell the time in French, and for pronunciation practice too. There are 8 clock faces per page. This size ensures they are sufficiently large for students to be able to read the time clearly, also allowing for an ideal font size to keep language clear and accessible. I always laminate my language learning cards - it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. The aim of the game is to arrange the clocks in the relevant order. Students will generally have several cards each, depending on the size of your class. We usually set the cards on a table, so that students can see the timeline clearly. I frequently use a timer when we play. Playing in teams, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges together, is really popular - students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. The games also work well as pair or small-group games. There are two games, each with a different challenge: = Challenge 1: with all the the clock times in numerical order, J’ai… Qui a… ? = Challenge 2: with the all the clock times in random order, which really helps recall and embedding new language, as students often learn time phrases in numerical order, As-tu… ? It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. 25 high-frequency French ER verbs in the perfect tense (passé composé). There are 6 worksheets, with three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations, in two design formats: = Workbook Format: 10-page workbook, with cover page, verbs lists, six worksheets and Notes, Next Steps and New Verbs page, where students note any points they’d like to work more on, map their progress and list any new French ER verbs they learn, which helps them develop a really useful French verb bank. = Worksheet Format: worksheets can be printed out individually, or as a pack without the cover page, verbs lists and progress template, useful for quick revision, refresher, starters / finishers, and also generally saves on prep costs The answer key is a separate file with six pages, and I generally print this out as a pack for classwork, with groups of students sharing an individual pack. The worksheets also address a broad range of vocabulary and grammar points, such as direct / indirect object pronouns, negative sentences and various question formats. There are also several questions featuring the preceding direct object, though the focus is on conjugation, rather than the more complex points of this tense. Students may not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging with new language, as well as practicing and reinforcing the current language focus. There are three differentiated conjugation challenges: = Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in sentence format across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding translation. Translating accurately is an important skill for language learners to engage with and master, and this kind of focused practice is really useful for them. = Conjugation Challenge 2: straightforward conjugation drill: each question gives a French infinitive and a target pronoun. Students write the corresponding French verb conjugation. = Conjugation Challenge 3: mirrors Challenge 1, with an increased challenge. Students write the French translation from a basic English sentence, to ensure that they are able to produce as well as recognise both the correct conjugation and an accurate translation.
