This book is so important now! This beautifully illustrated and thoughtfully structured power point lesson explores all the key events of this chapter through structured tasks and academic writing. I have taught this novel many times and thoroughly enjoy seeing the student’s eyes open to the bigger world around them. I have used this resource successfully in my own class to lead my teaching, as a homework assignment and also as a tool of revision – all have worked well. This power point lesson contains a starter activity, summary and analysis questions, an academic writing task, an extension task and a plenary.

This beautifully illustrated powerpoint presentation is very engaging for the students, and vitally important when encountering textual analysis tasks in the examininations. In this presentation students explore the importance of character traits and what they communicate and direct and indirect characterisation exercises. I have run this lesson successfully on a number of occassions and found it great for exploring the writer's craft.
